Men's Tennis Drops CSAC Contest At Neumann, 6-3

BOX SCORE

ASTON, Pa.- The Immaculata men's tennis team returned to action on Monday afternoon after having matches postponed last week due to weather, and the Macs (2-6, 1-2 CSAC) fell on the road at Neumann (3-2, 3-1 CSAC) by a score of 6-3.  The Mighty Macs still have four CSAC matches remaining in their conference schedule and will need at least three wins in those matches to reach the CSAC postseason for the first time since 2013.

The junior doubles tandem of John Binner and Stephen Smith continued their good season in the second spot as they won 8-5, but IU dropped the other two as they trailed going into singles, 2-1.

The singles portion of the match was very close as one match went three sets and two others had tiebreaks.  IU took one of them as freshman Dom Ramsden won in the third spot by scores of 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, and Binner picked up his second victory of the day in the fourth spot in a tight match, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5.

Smith battled close in his match in the second position, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

Immaculata will have little time to rest as they host Gwynedd Mercy on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
