Men's Tennis Claims First Win Of 2016, 5-4

LANCASTER, Pa.-
The Immaculata men's tennis team (1-2) closed out the opening week of their 2016 schedule with their first victory of the season, a 5-4 triumph over Lancaster Bible on the road on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Macs took one of the three doubles matches as juniors John Binner and Stephen Smith came away with an 8-3 victory in the second doubles slot.
 
Trailing 2-1 heading into singles, the Macs were in need of some wins and they got them to claim the match.  Sophomore Patrick Tierno got his first career win at the number one singles position in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.  After dropping his first two matches in third set tiebreaks, Smith finally got the better of his opponent in a third set as he won at second singles.  He dropped the first set 4-6, but rallied with 6-3 and 6-2 wins to get his first win of the season.
 
Freshman Dom Ramsden claimed the first victory of his collegiate career with a straight sets 6-4, 6-4 win in the third singles position.  Binner got the final win of the day for the Macs, also in straight sets, by a count of 6-2, 6-0 in fourth singles.
 
The Mighty Macs will keep their busy stretch going with a home match against Eastern on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
