Men's Soccer Blanks Richard Stockton, 1-0

Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa.- On a beautiful Wednesday evening, the Immaculata men's soccer team (6-4-1) welcomed the visiting Richard Stockton University Ospreys (2-6-4) to campus for a final non-conference tune-up and the Macs would go on to win by a final score of 1-0. The Macs entered tonight's game looking to get back on track after a tough loss at the hands of the Keystone College Giants by a score of 5-0 on Saturday and this was the Macs first win over the Ospreys in their third try.

In the first half the possession was relatively even, however, the Macs had the better of the chances.  The Macs took four shots with three finding their way on goal and the Ospreys got three shots of their own off, however, none of them managed to find their way on net.

In the fifth minute of play the Macs and freshman Nick Boule opened up the scoring with his fourth goal of the season off a great pass from sophomore Alex Noel. The Macs would get more chances as the half went on but freshman goalie Michael Lescano did well and made two big saves to keep the score at 1-0.

The Macs defense played well as they made sure that the Ospreys did not get many quality chances on net.

In the second half the Ospreys dominated the possession as they recorded an additional ten shots with six of them finding their way on net.  Senior goalie Joe Lubonski stood tall recording six saves on the night, all after halftime. The Macs did not get a shot off in the second half but the strong defensive effort from Lubonski and company managed to keep the Osprey off the board and propel the Macs to 1-0 victory.  This was Lubonski's seventh career shutout which leaves him one shutout away from tying the all-time lead for shutouts in school history.

The Macs next game is Saturday the 8th when they go to visit Clarks Summit for a 3 p.m. start, and their next home game is next Tuesday when they host the Rosemont College Ravens.
