Volleyball Sweeps Clarks Summit, 3-0

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata volleyball evened its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) record at 2-2 with its 3-0 sweep against Clarks Summit Tuesday evening inside Alumnae Hall on Dig Pink Night. The Mighty Macs captured the win, 25-11, 25-16 and 25-20.
 
Immaculata (5-10) has now won two-straight matches to end its current two-match home stand. Clarks Summit slips to 5-12, 3-2 CSAC.
 
Arden Vizzard recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs. Gabrielle Guerrera finished with seven kills, and Shelby Belk and Tess Kieffer each had five kills. Immaculata's attackers had a strong performance as the team hit .342 for the match led off by a .500 hitting percentage (13 kills, 0 errors, 26 attacks) during the first set.
 
Olivia Zdradzinski made 27 assists and eight digs. Molly Truitt pitched in six digs. Olivia Carter served up 11 aces for the match and the Mighty Macs finished with 15 aces as a team.
 
The first set was close during the first 15 points as Immaculata held just an 8-7 lead. The Mighty Macs then went on an 11-point run, extending their advantage to 19-7. Carter had four of her aces during this spurt.
 
The second set featured runs by both teams as neither could pull away from the other. Immaculata had a two-point edge (17-15) when the Mighty Macs won the next seven points to set up game-point. The Lady Defenders held off the Mighty Macs for one point, but they closed it out, 25-16.
 
It was neck-and-neck in the third set, and Clarks Summit pulled in front of immaculata, 11-10. The Lady Defenders continued to hold the advantage at 14-12, but the Mighty Macs put together a run. Immaculata got the side out to make it 14-13, and Carter went back to serve. Carter served nine points for the Mighty Macs, including three more aces, handing them a 22-14 lead.
 
Clarks Summit won six of the next seven points, pulling within 23-20 of Immaculata, but the Mighty Macs closed the match with the next two points.
 
Immaculata travels to Rosemont on Saturday for a noon match against the Ravens.
