IMMACULATA, Pa.- On a crisp and clear October night the No. 4 Immaculata women's soccer team (7-11) played host to the No. 5 Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins (10-6-2) in the CSAC Quarterfinals, and the Mighty Macs were unable to breakthrough in a 2-0 defeat.  This was the Macs first home playoff game in team history at Draper Walsh Stadium and this was their first appearance in the postseason since 2013.
 
The Macs outshot the Griffins 15-6, led by four by freshman Courtney Stinger.
 
In the first half of play, the Macs had a number of great chances but unfortunately they would all be narrowly saved, or freshman Carly Quigley would ring one of the crossbar to keep IU off the score sheet. The Griffins jumped out to a quick lead in the 17^th minute when freshman Samantha Brown scored off an assist from junior Meghan Petroski to give the Griffins a 1-0 advantage. The Griffins would score again in the 34^th minute when Brown struck, this time off an assist from freshman Madeline Swartley to make the Griffins lead 2-0.  Junior goalie Allie Tracey made one save in the first half to help keep the Macs in the game. The Griffins goalie sophomore Kailey Hopkins worked hard making four saves in the first half to shut down the Macs high powered attack in the opening 45.
 
In the second half the Macs continued to apply constant pressure to the Griffins but the Gwynedd keeper would stand tall and make 11 saves to keep the Macs off the board. The Griffins offense would be held scoreless in the last 45 minutes as Tracey and CSAC Rookie of the Year Maddie Bescript did well to limit the Griffins chances.
 
This game brought the Macs historic season to a close and the Griffins will advance to take on the top seeded Marywood Pacers on Wednesday.
