LANGHORNE, Pa. – Immaculata men's soccer took one step closer to clinching a home game in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament on Wednesday afternoon with a 3-0 win at Cairn.
Â
Immaculata improves to 11-5-1 overall and 6-2 in conference play. It sets a program record for wins in a single season, topping the 10-win seasons by the 2008 and 2009 Mighty Mac squads. The six wins tie the Immaculata mark for most wins in conference game, equaling those of last year's squad and those of 2008 and 2009.
Â
Nick Boule started the scoring for Immaculata in the seventh minute when he finished the pass from
Alex Noel for the early 1-0 lead. The Mighty Macs would hold that same advantage at the break.
Â
It took just 1:59 into the second half for the Mighty Macs to add to their advantage as
Pat Friend headed the ball into the goal from Boule. Immaculata later gave itself a three-goal cushion when Noel converted on his fourth penalty kick of the season in the 65th minute.
Â
Noel now has 29 points for the year, one shy of tying Kieran Keelan for the single-season program record of 30 set in 2008. He has already set the single season mark for assists, and currently has 11 this season.
Â
Immaculata goalkeeper
Joe Lubonski earned his sixth shutout of the year making two saves along the way. He is Immaculata's single-season record holder for shutouts, and the win today made him the single-season wins leader by a keeper.
Â
Immaculata finishes the regular season on Saturday at Draper Walsh Stadium hosting Marywood at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
