IMMACULATA, Pa.- On a beautiful Tuesday afternoon the Immaculata men's soccer team (8-4-1, 3-1 CSAC) played host to the visiting Rosemont College Ravens (2-9-2, 0-4 CSAC) in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) matchup. The Macs would go on to win by a final score of 5-1 behind four different goal scorers. Nick Boule got a great pass from sophomore
Alex Noel to score in the closing seconds of overtime. This afternoon's win gave the Macs since their first three game winning streak since 2011.
In the first half of play the Macs had the better of the play as they managed to out possess and outshoot the Ravens by a nine to six margin. This would show up on the stat sheet as the Macs were able to go to the locker room with a 3-0 lead. The Macs started the scoring early when Noel took a great back heel pass from senior
Kyle Jumalon in the second minute to take a 1-0 lead in the 2
nd minute. They would strike again when sophomore
Mark Staudenmayer got a great pass from Jumalon to put the ball past a diving keeper in the 16
th minute. The Macs would strike one more time in the 23
rd minute when Jumalon got a goal of his own off a pass from Noel. Senior goalie
Joe Lubonski would make three saves to keep the Ravens off the scoreboard. The Ravens senior goalie Zach Bowe would make a beautiful save of his own to what looked like a sure goal from Noel late in the first half to keep the score at 3-0.
In the second half the Macs offense would continue its high powered attack as they would score in the 54
th minute when freshman
Nick Boule got a great pass from Noel to extend the lead to 4-0. The Macs would score again when Jumalon got another good feed from Noel to make the lead 5-0. Jumalon would end the day with six points which is good enough for second most in a game in IU history and he is the sixth Mac to reach this total.
The Ravens would pick up a goal in the closing minutes when freshman Alex Matthews converted a flying header to help the Ravens avoid the shutout. Lubonski would play well making five saves on the day and his counterpart senior keeper Zach Bowe would end the day with seven saves of his own to keep the Ravens in the game.
The Macs next home game will be Saturday the 15
th when they host Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins getting underway at 1 p.m.
