IMMACULATA, Pa. -Â On an overcast and misty Saturday afternoon, the Immaculata field hockey team (5-6, 1-1 Colonial States Athletic Conference) played host to the Marywood Pacers (7-3, 2-1 CSAC) in conference play, where the Macs would go on to fall by a score of 4-1.
In the first half each, team possessed the ball well but struggled to put chances away. The Pacers would break through 10 minutes into the game when junior Tori Jo Kakusian took the pass from junior Cassie Stockwell to give the Pacers a 1-0 lead. Â The Pacers would never look back from this point. Senior goalie
Sarah Pasternak worked hard to keep the Macs in the game making two saves in the first half and then another four saves in the second half.
The Pacers continued to score in the second half, racking up another three goals beginning when senior Amelia Waibel scored the first of her two goals on the day in the 39th minute when Stockwell passed to her for Stockwell's second assist on the day. Waibel scored again in the 65th minute when she got a pass from freshman Sara Sterchak.
The Pacers also scored in the 54th minute when senior Gabbie Bower scored on a feed from Sterchak. The Macs answered back five minutes later when junior
Megan Donegan put a diving shot past a stretched out Marywood goalie to make the game 3-1 with just under 11 minutes to play.Â
The Macs next game is Wednesday, October 5Â when they go to visit Goucher for a 4 p.m. start.Â
