IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's tennis team evened their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) record at 2-2 on Wednesday afternoon, and moved into fourth place in the conference with a 9-0 victory over Rosemont at the IU Tennis Courts. The Macs now sit at 3-4 overall.
Immaculata had their most dominating effort of the season as they dropped just seven games in the shutout victory.
In doubles, junior
Nick Coia and freshman
Patrick Tierno dominated at first doubles, 8-0, while sophomore
John Binner and senior
Will DeSantis also earned an 8-0 triumph at the second doubles position. Sophomore
Mark Hueber and
Stephen Smith won by default in the third spot.
In singles, the Mighty Macs continued to play well as they won 6-0, 6-0 in four different matches. Coia at first, Tierno at third, Smith at fourth, and Binner at fifth, all won in straight sets without dropping a game.
DeSantis finished off a 7-5, 6-2 straight sets win at the second position while senior
Alessandro Mazzone won by default in the sixth spot.
The Mighty Macs will now be off for the Easter break, but will return to the court with a road trip at Penn State-Berks on Tuesday, April 7
th.
