Men's Tennis Opens CSAC Play With a 6-3 Defeat

IMMACULATA, Pa.-
The Immaculata men's tennis team started off Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play this afternoon by hosting Cabrini (2-5, 2-1 CSAC), and the Cavaliers dealt the Mighty Macs a 6-3 defeat to open up conference play.
 
The sophomore third doubles pairing of Mark Hueber and Stephen Smith won their third consecutive match to grab the only doubles victory for the Mighty Macs.  The duo won 8-6, by winning the final three games in the set.
 
In singles, the Macs lost in straight sets in the first four positions, but took the last two singles.  Sophomore John Binner won a marathon first set, 7-6, and then closed out his opponent 6-3 in the second set at the fifth singles position for his second straight singles victory.
 
In the sixth spot, senior Alessandro Mazzone won his third consecutive singles match, 6-4, 6-3, to give him the most singles wins on the team thus far.
 
The Mighty Macs will have an opportunity to get right back into it this weekend with a pair of road matches as they travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Friday before continuing on to Keystone on Saturday.
