Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Immaculata's men's basketball team took to the road for its 2015-16 season opener Friday evening, Nov. 13, falling to McDaniel, 68-55, at the Gill Center in non-conference action.

The Green Terror (1-0) opened up a one-point game at halftime, 29-28, as they outscored the Mighty Macs (0-1) in the second half, 39-27, and by a 13-5 margin during the final three minutes.

Roy Ferrell Jr. led the Mighty Macs in both points (14) and rebounds (5). Matt Simon added eight points, while Mike Piekarski and Ron Melton each finished with seven points. Tony Calamaro, Piekarski and Cordell Lord all grabbed three rebounds.

Immaculata tied the game at 5-all just inside the 15-minute mark of the first half on a Piekarski tip-in to start a run for the visitors. The Mighty Macs would go on to outscore the Green Terror, 12-2, and grab a 10-point lead with 8:34 to play in the opening half.

McDaniel then went on a 17-7 run to grab the advantage back, 24-23, with 3:08 remaining in the first half. The run was sparked by two 3-point baskets, and capped as the Green Terror were able to convert back-to-back possessions with three-point plays.

The Mighty Macs took the lead once more during the opening frame as Simon sunk a three with 1:07 on the clock. However, McDaniel made a layup with 25 seconds left for the halftime lead.

Immaculata scored the first five points of the second half to regain the advantage over McDaniel, 33-29. After the Mighty Macs went ahead, 35-33, the Green Terror went on a 13-3 run that saw Immaculata's only three points come from the foul line.

The lead McDaniel built during the run would not be relinquished the rest of the way, even though the Mighty Macs did get within two (46-44) with 7:12 left in the game after six-straight points. McDaniel was 7-for-8 from the foul line during the final 2:26 of the game to seal the contest, and the final margin was the largest lead by either team during the game.
