Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa.- Coming off a season-opening victory, the Mighty Macs (1-1) looked to make it two straight when they hosted Wesley (2-0) on Wednesday afternoon, but the Wolverines erased an early deficit with two unanswered goals to defeat Immaculata by a score of 2-1.

In the first half, the Mighty Macs started fast as they got an early lead less than six minutes into the game. Junior
Patsy Murphy got her first point of the season as she deflected the ball to sophomore
Brittany Robertson who slid it into the open net for the first goal of her career and a 1-0 IU lead.

The Mighty Macs would hold onto that lead for much of the first half, and continued to pressure the Wesley keeper, but they were unable to extend their advantage.

With less than 10 minutes to go in the first half, Wesley took their fourth corner of the opening stanza and after senior
Lynda Sheets made a defensive save to keep the ball out of the cage, Lauren Niezgoda found the back to of the net to tie the game up heading into the locker room.

Early in the second half with the game still in a deadlock, the Wolverines got the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal from Lauren Mears as she swooped in front of the goal at the top of the circle and ripped a shot past sophomore goalie
Sarah Pasternak to give Wesley a 2-1 lead.

The Mighty Macs would have back-to-back corners midway through the second half with a chance to tie, but couldn't get the equalizer.

With just under eight minutes to go, senior Ashley O'Donnell had the best chance as she broke through the defense up the right side, but she was unable to get a shot through the defense as the Mighty Macs suffered their first loss of 2014 by a count of 2-1.

Pasternak collected eight saves, while O'Donnell and Robertson tied for the team lead with three shots each.

The Mighty Macs will play their first road contest of the 2014 season this Saturday when they travel to Moravian for a 1 p.m. game.
