Men's Soccer Falls In Opener At Alvernia, 2-0

READING, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's soccer team started the 2014 season falling on the road at Alvernia under the lights Friday night, 2-0, in non-conference play.
 
The host Crusaders (1-0) started the match scoring both their goals during the first 26 minutes. Alvernia's first goal came in the 13th minute as Rocky Elgogari was able to capitalize on a corner kick from Josh Wollaston. Alvernia's scored its second marker just 13 minutes later as Alex Martyn went one-on-one with Immaculata's defender and finished with a goal.
 
Immaculata (0-1) goalkeeper Michael Thompson, getting his first career start, was able to shut out the Crusaders in the second half. He made three saves during the game.
 
The Mighty Macs managed four shots during the contest while the Crusaders booted 17 attempts.
 
Immaculata continues its opening road swing on September 3 at 7:30 p.m. when it heads to Albright.
