BOX SCORE IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's tennis team (1-4, 1-1 CSAC) picked up their first win overall, and their first win in CSAC play on Thursday afternoon with a convincing, rain-shortened 6-0 victory over the visiting Keystone College Giants (0-5, 0-3 CSAC). Four Mighty Macs got the first win of their careers in the team's victory.
Sophomore
Nick Coia teamed with junior
Will DeSantis in the first doubles position and picked up their first victory with a convincing 8-0 win. They each went on to pick up a point in singles play by cruising to wins.
Coia got his first career victory in the number one singles spot with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph, and DeSantis did the same in the second spot with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Junior
Alessandro Mazzone and freshman
Stephen Smith won a hard-earned 8-5 victory in the second doubles position for another Mighty Mac point and their first career wins. Smith, in the fourth singles spot, was leading his matches when it was called due to rain.
In the final doubles spot, freshmen
John Binner and
Mark Hueber each won the first match of their career in the third position with an 8-1 triumph.
Hueber then picked up the final Mighty Mac point of the day with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the sixth singles spot, the first singles win of his career.
Immaculata will travel to Marywood tomorrow afternoon for a 3 p.m. start, looking for their second consecutive win.
