ROSEMONT, Pa.- The Immaculata men's tennis team (2-5, 2-2 CSAC) captured their second CSAC victory of the season on Friday afternoon with an 8-1 triumph over Rosemont (0-8, 0-4 CSAC).
The Mighty Macs swept the doubles to take early command of the conference match. The veteran first doubles duo of sophomore
Nick Coia and junior
Will DeSantis won easily 8-1. Junior
Alessandro Mazzone and freshman
Stephen Smith battled to an 8-5 victory in the second doubles.
Freshmen
John Binner and
Mark Hueber won by default in the third position.
In singles, the Mighty Macs took five out of six to claim victory. Hueber won his second singles match in a row by default in the sixth spot.
Coia was a 6-2, 6-4 winner in the first spot and DeSantis cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win in the second spot.
Mazzone claimed the first singles victory of his career in the fourth position with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Smith also captured the first singles win of his career by a count of 6-1, 6-3 in the fifth position.
The Mighty Macs will continue in CSAC play with a very important match at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Cabrini.
