Immaculata Ready to Face Neumann in CSAC Semifinals

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Fresh off its 77-74 victory on Monday night in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament quarterfinals, the third-seeded Immaculata University women's basketball team is quickly preparing for its semifinal matchup against second-seeded Neumann University on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Mirenda Center.

Immaculata (18-8) and Neumann (15-9) finished the CSAC regular season with identical marks of 12-4. However, the Knights received the No. 2 seed in the tournament by virtue of their win against Gwynedd Mercy University as the squads moved through the tie-breaking procedures.

The Mighty Macs and Knights had a long history of meeting in the postseason. This will mark the fifth time in the last six playoff appearances for Immaculata that it will go up against Neumann. Immaculata and Neumann most recently matched up in the 2012 CSAC Tournament quarterfinals where the Mighty Macs defeated the Knights, 60-45, inside Alumnae Hall.

Immaculata and Neumann have met once before in the semifinal round, and it was the Knights that came away victorious with a 71-56 win during the 2009-10 season. That year, the Mighty Macs entered the postseason as the No. 6 seed while the Knights were the No. 1 seed.

While Immaculata only has one senior on its roster, Marisa Kinsey, she was part of the Mighty Macs squad that played Neumann in the CSAC Championship game during the 2010-11 season and finished as the conference runner-up after a 66-60 loss.

The Department of Athletics and Recreation will be offering a fan bus for members of the Immaculata University community who would like to attend Wednesday's game.  The fan bus will depart from the Alumnae Hall loading dock at 5:30 p.m. You can sign up for the bus by emailing Tom Machamer, tmachamer@immaculata.edu, or by calling 610-647-4400 x3735.

There is no cost of admission to the game.
