Box Score ASTON, Pa.- In a pivotal back-and-forth Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match up, the Immaculata field hockey team (4-8, 1-1 CSAC) travelled to Neumann (4-6, 3-0 CSAC), and after 70 minutes wasn't enough to decide it, the Knights picked up a goal in double-overtime to take the game by a score of 4-3. Senior
Ashley O'Donnell had her third multi-goal game of the season as the Mighty Macs nearly came away with a big road win.
O'Donnell continued to add to her career-best totals with her 12
th and 13
th goals of the game, which also gave her 89 points in her IU career, the most in school history. Junior
Patsy Murphy added her seventh goal of the season and sophomore goalie
Sarah Pasternak made 17 saves in the cage.
Senior defender
Lynda Sheets also had a big game defensively for IU with three defensive saves.
The Mighty Macs got the scoring started quickly just over two minutes into the game as Murphy quickly put the Mighty Macs up 1-0. However, Neumann quickly tied it just over three minutes later.
O'Donnell would score her first of the game in the 15
th minute, but again Neumann had a response at the 23:00 minute mark to send the game to the second half tied 2-2.
The game would stay tied there all the way until the final ten minutes of the game when O'Donnell converted a penalty stroke in the 63
rd minute to give IU a brief one-goal lead. Neumann again had an answer with just under four minutes left when they tied the game at 3-3 and sent Immaculata to overtime for the first time this season.
The teams would stay scoreless in the first overtime despite Immaculata outshooting Neumann, 5-3.
In the 92
nd minute, Neumann would end the contest with a goal to lift them to the 4-3 victory.
Immaculata will move to non-conference play on Thursday at 4 p.m. when they host Albright at Draper Walsh Stadium.
