Box Score ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata University went the distance against Neumann University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) volleyball action Wednesday night but it was the host Knights who came out with the 3-2 victory. Neumann eventually took the match with set scores of 25-11, 22-25, 23-25, 26-16 and 15-10.
Immaculata drops to 16-8 overall and 6-4 in the CSAC to stay in a tie for fourth place in the conference standings with Cairn. Neumann improves to 20-10, 10-1 CSAC.
Stephanie Johler led the Mighty Macs offensively with a team high in both kills (10) and blocks (5).
Jamie Rombach had nine kills, and
Tess Kieffer posted nine kills and five blocks.
Arden Vizzard recorded seven kills and 22 digs.
Gabrielle Guerrera also had seven kills and added two blocks.
Molly Truitt made a team-high 29 digs.
Emily Swank also reached double figures in digs with 14.
Maranda Jones led the squad with 30 assists.
After falling in the opening set (25-11), Immaculata evened the match at 1-1 by winning the second set. The Mighty Macs had to come back from a 16-10 deficit for the win as they rallied to win 11 of 12 points, including nine straight, to turn the set in favor of the guests, 21-17. The Knights even the set at 22-all but the Mighty Macs capitalized on a Johler service ace and two Neumann errors for the win.
Immaculata jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the third set as Kieffer had four kills and a block to start the set. The Mighty Macs continued to keep a double-digit edge leading 22-11. However, Neumann won five-straight points to start a 6-1 run. Immaculata got to set point at 25-17 but Neumann wouldn't go down. The Knights held off the Mighty Macs as they scored six points before Guerrera put down a kill for Immaculata's 25th point and the 25-23 win.
