Men's Soccer Edged By Centenary, 1-0

Box Score

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.- The Immaculata men's soccer team travelled to Centenary on Saturday afternoon looking to snap their four game losing skid, but a penalty kick goal by the Cyclones (8-3-1, 3-1 CSAC) in the 47th minute held up as the Mighty Macs (2-10-1, 0-5 CSAC) fell by a score of 1-0.

The teams played to a scoreless draw in the first half, largely due to the efforts of Michael Thompson in goal who made seven of his season-high eight saves in the opening 45 minutes.

Early in the second half, Quinn Khouri converted his 11th goal of the season on a penalty kick to put the Cyclones up 1-0.

The Mighty Macs would then turn up the offensive pressure as they generated eight shots and seven corner kicks as they attempted to net the equalizer, but they were unable to do so in the 1-0 defeat.

Stephen Smith led the team with three shots, while Kyle Jumalon and Ben Gialloreto each had two.  As a team, IU was outshot 16-10 and had nine corners compared to three for the Cyclones.

The Mighty Macs will play their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday at Washington College at 4 p.m.
