Field Hockey Topped By Swarthmore, 2-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa.-The Immaculata field hockey team was looking to build off of its double overtime victory over Bryn Mawr when they travelled to Swarthmore on Friday afternoon, but two early goals by Swarthmore was too much to overcome in a 2-0 non-conference defeat.  The Mighty Macs (2-3) were led by junior Ashley O'Donnell who had three shots on the day.
 
Swarthmore picked up two goals within 39 seconds less than ten minutes into the game to provide the only scoring on the day.  Both goals were scored by Aarti Rao and assisted by Katherine Ianni against freshman starting goalie Christine McIntyre, who had two saves on the day.
 
The Mighty Macs were unable to get anything going in the second half offensively to even the game despite solid goaltending by freshman Sarah Pasternak (two saves) and strong defense led by senior Molly Byrne (one defensive save).
 
Immaculata will return home on Wednesday afternoon when Arcadia comes to Draper Walsh Stadium for a 4 p.m. non-conference start.
