IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's tennis team (2-1, 1-0 CSAC) won their conference opener with a 7-2 victory over Cabrini (0-5, 0-1 CSAC) to start the CSAC season. The Mighty Macs won two of the doubles matches and five of the singles matches to snap a two-game losing streak against the Cavaliers.
Sophomore
Troy Donato and freshman Nicholas Coia dominated their first doubles match with an 8-1 victory while seniors
Todd Stokley and
Eric Schmidt also scored an 8-1 victory in the third doubles position.
In singles, Donato improved to 3-0 on the season and in his Immaculata career with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the first singles position. Coia also swept both of his matches on the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph in the fourth singles position.
Schmidt and Stokley also swept both their singles and doubles matches. Schmidt won a tight 6-4, 7-5 decision in the third spot, while Stokley cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the sixth spot.
Senior
T.J. Klinger accounted for the final point with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the fifth position.
The Mighty Macs look to make it two consecutive CSAC victories against Keystone this Saturday.
