Field Hockey Suffers First CSAC Loss, 3-2

SCRANTON, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team suffered their first setback of the CSAC season on Saturday afternoon as Marywood (4-11, 3-2 CSAC) scored three unanswered second half goals to claim a 3-2 victory.  The Mighty Macs (5-10, 3-1 CSAC) had a 2-0 lead early in the second half after goals from junior Ashley O'Donnell and sophomore Lindsay Cras, but they were unable to hold onto the lead.
 
O'Donnell scored her eighth goal of the season with just over two minutes remaining in the first half on an assist from junior Tiffany Lockfeld.  The Mighty Macs would hold the 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
 
Immaculata scored a second goal just over two minutes after halftime on a penalty corner as Cras netted her second of the season on an assist from sophomore Patsy Murphy for a 2-0 IU advantage.
 
Marywood finally got on the board in the 53rd minute on a goal from Kathryn Morin that beat freshman goalie Sarah Pasternak (five saves) to trim the deficit to 2-1.
 
The Pacers tied the game with seven minutes remaining on a goal from Julie Kowalski.
 
The game appeared to be headed for overtime, but Morin scored her second goal of the contest with just over three minutes left to clinch the 3-2 victory for Marywood.
 
Immaculata will aim to get back in the win column on Wednesday evening as they travel to Cabrini for a 6:30 start.
