Alvernia Tops Immaculata To Begin Season

READING, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's soccer team fell in its season-opening match on Friday night at Alvernia University, 4-0, in non-conference play.
 
It was a tail of two halves for the Mighty Macs. The Crusaders scored four goals during the first half, and then the Mighty Macs shut them down and held them without a goal for the remainder of the game.
 
Alvernia scored two goals during the first 5:08 of the contest and finished its scoring by the 31st minute.
 
Immaculata started goalkeeper Nick Bruno during the first half and he made three saves during the 45-period half. Chris Raudabaugh came in at halftime and played the rest of the way no allowing a goal while making two stops.
 
Ben Diller played all 90 minutes as Alvernia goalkeeper recording three saves.
 
Alvernia held a 16-7 advantage in shots, but the two teams were even with five shots each during the second half. For the Mighty Macs, Kyle Craig, T.J. Jappah and Tyler Hembree had two shots apiece.
 
Immaculata is back on the pitch Wednesday, Sept. 5, heading to Albright at 7 p.m.
