IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's 2012 field hockey season got underway Friday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium as the Mighty Macs hosted the Widener University Pride. A strong second half lifted the visitors to a 6-1 victory against the Mighty Macs in non-conference action.
Widener scored the only goal of the first half just 4:20 into the match as Meghan Garvey scored on an assist from Brittany Creighton. The two squads went into halftime with the Pride holding the narrow one-goal lead.
The Pride scored quickly to open the second half as Hannah Robinson scored back-to-back goals less than one minute apart to extend Widener's edge to 3-0.

Widener (1-0) closed out the contest with three more goals for the final 6-1 margin.

Patsy Murphy made 11 saves in her collegiate debut. Widener goalkeeper Maggie Karmeris recorded three saves in the win.
Immaculata travels to Goucher on Sept. 5 at 4 p.m.
