ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata University was edged 5-4 by Neumann University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference men's tennis match on Saturday afternoon.
Joe Walker was a double-winner for the Mighty Macs, winning his second doubles and fourth singles matches.
Walker teamed with
Eric Schmidt for an 8-4 doubles victory against Todd Del Sordo and Stephen Moran. Walker then defeated Del Sordo again in singles play, 6-3, 7-5.
Also picking up points for Immaculata were
Demetrios Vlahos and
T.J. Klinger, who both won their singles matches. Vlahos, playing the top position, was a 6-3, 6-3 winner against Dustin Broom. Klinger, at third singles, came back after dropping the first set to down Zane Buckley, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Immaculata also forced two other singles matches into third-set tie-breakers.
Eric Schmidt, at No. 2, won the first set before Bryan Bodine came back to win the next two, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1. William DeSantis, at No. 6, rallied to hold off Andrew Raimundo by winning the second set, but eventually was defeated, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
Immaculata travels to Lebanon Valley on Monday at 3:30 p.m. for its final non-conference match of the season.
