Kyle Craig scored for Immaculata University in the opening minute of its Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer contest against Gwynedd-Mercy College, and the Mighty Macs led until 24 seconds remaining in regulation. The Griffins knotted the tying goal with just 24 seconds left, and two overtime periods couldn't break the 1-1 tie.
Craig ushered in Senior Night for the Mighty Macs by lifting the hosts to the early 1-0 lead exactly one minute into the opening frame as
T.J. Jappah assisted on the goal. Immaculata maintained its one-goal edge at intermission.
Gwynedd-Mercy came out in the second half and created several scoring opportunities, including five corner kicks during the first five minutes. Each time the Mighty Macs were able to clear the ball and hold the Griffins scoreless to protect their lead.
Gwynedd-Mercy (6-11-2, 2-4-2 CSAC) finally had its opportunity to even the game with 24 seconds remaining as the Griffins scrambled in front of the box following an indirect kick, and Rich Mychack came away booting the ball in the back of the net.
Each team had its chances in the overtime frames, but neither was able to break the score.
Immaculata (2-10-2, 2-4-2 CSAC) plays its regular-season finale against Keystone in Scranton, Pa., Saturday night at 7 p.m.
