Men's Basketball Downs Baptist Bible, 59-50

IMMACULATA, Pa.
– Immaculata University's men's basketball squad held off visiting Baptist Bible College, 59-50, on Saturday afternoon inside Alumnae Hall in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

Immaculata improves to 6-13 overall and 4-8 in the CSAC with the victory. Baptist Bible slips to 2-17, 2-10 in the league.

Nelson Torres led the Mighty Macs with 17 points and four steals, while Rob Siter recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kendall Peters chipped in nine points and three assists.

The game seesawed back and forth during the first five minutes before Immaculata opened up a 13-6 advantage at the 8:53 mark off a 10-2 run. The Mighty Macs still led by seven (16-8) with just over five minutes remaining in the first half, when the Defenders used an 8-2 run to cut the lead to one, 17-16, with 1:15 before the break. Immaculata eventually took a 21-18 edge into intermission.

Baptist Bible cut Immaculata's lead to just one at the 16:21 mark, but the Mighty Macs were able to expand it back to six, 36-30, with 11:48 to go in the contest. However, the Defenders scored six consecutive points in just 1:01 to knot the score at 36-all with 10:30 left, and Baptist Bible then took its first lead since the 15:54 mark of the first half, 38-36, on Stephen Howard's layup with 9:28 remaining.

T.J. Klinger then sparked the Mighty Macs with a three-pointer at the 9:09 mark, and Immaculata went off on a 14-0 run. The spurt finished as Siter converted a three-point play to give Immaculata a 50-38 advantage just inside four minutes left in the contest.

Baptist Bible cut Immaculata's edge to 54-46 with 1:01 remaining, but the Mighty Macs went 5-for-6 from the free throw line during the final minute to hold on for the win.

Jordan Greve led all scorers with 20 points for Baptist Bible. Luke Peterson also added 12 points for the Defenders.

Immaculata continues its home stand on Wednesday at 8 p.m. against Neumann.
