IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's soccer team earned its first win this season by handing Delaware Valley College a 3-0 loss in non-conference action on a cool and damp Thursday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Joe Walker netted the Mighty Macs first goal in the 16th minute, and Immaculata held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Mighty Macs scored twice more in the second half. Nic Jorge booted in a ball from Brendan Ackley in the 67th minute to increase Immaculata advantage to 2-0. Jorge later assisted on the Mighty Macs' third goal with just over 10 minutes remaining as Jorge sent a ball into the box that was tipped by Kyle Craig for the score.
Immaculata goalkeeper Chris Raudabaugh (1-2) made three saves to earn the shutout win in goal, while Delaware Valley's DJ Meisinger also had three stops during the first 80 minutes of the match.
The Mighty Macs held a 13-8 advantage in shots against the Aggies, and both teams had seven corners each.
Immaculata improves to 1-6 this season. Thursday's victory also marked the first collegiate win for first-year Immaculata head coach Steve Blumenthal. Delaware Valley falls to 1-3 overall.
Immaculata ushers in the Colonial States Athletic Conference slate on Saturday at 1 p.m. hosting Keystone College at Draper Walsh Stadium.
