Men's Tennis Edges Gwynedd-Mercy, 5-4

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's tennis defeated Gwynedd-Mercy College, 5-4, on Wednesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action. It marked the first win for the Mighty Macs over the Griffins in men's tennis program history.

Immaculata evens its CSAC record at 2-2 while its overall mark is now 2-8. Gwynedd-Mercy slips to 1-3 overall, 1-1 CSAC.

Immaculata picked up its first point of the match at third doubles as T.J. Klinger and Chad Mascitelli swept Gwynedd-Mercy's pair of Chris Playford and Tom Dempsey, 8-0.

After dropping their top two singles positions, the Mighty Macs captured the final four singles matches to edge the Griffins, 5-4. Eric Schmidt won at third singles, 6-3, 7-5, over Ryan Murray. Chris Conlan defeated Tim Munsey, 6-4, 6-4, at fourth singles. Klinger took his match at No. 5 singles against Playford, 6-1, 6-0, and Todd Stokley, playing at No. 6 singles, downed Dempsey, 6-4, 6-1.

Immaculata hosts Cabrini on Monday, April 25 at 3:30 p.m.
