Volleyball Closes Non-League Slate With 3-0 Win

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Powered by a season-high 14 kills from Tamara Dabady, Immaculata University's volleyball squad swept visiting Albright, 3-0, in the final non-conference match of the slate for the Mighty Macs. Immaculata took the match from the Lions with set scores of 25-18, 28-26 and 25-17.
 
Immaculata improves to 10-8 overall while Albright falls to 8-19.
 
Along with her season-best 14 kills, Dabady had her highest hitting percentage in a match this season at .560 with 25 attacks and zero hitting errors. Dabady also served up four service aces and made four digs. Haley Swearer added eight kills and seven digs for Immaculata. Lindsey Silvestro and Courtney Sahm both had six kills, while Sahm added nine digs and Silvestro made three blocks.
 
Kathleen Haefner registered 33 assists and nine digs. Brooke Schreffler had a team-leading 10 digs.
 
Immaculata won the first point of the opening set and held the lead throughout. The Lions came with one at 12-11, but an 6-2 run by the Mighty Macs made the score 18-13, and forced Albright to call timeout. Albright strung together a rally to bring the score to 21-17, but Immaculata closed the set out 25-18.
 
The second set was either team's game as there were six ties and three lead changes. Immaculata trailed in the beginning and were down 9-6. Dabady smacked down a kill to give Immaculata its seventh point, and it started a 7-1 run for the Mighty Macs that saw them take the lead, 13-10. The Mighty Macs maintained the advantage and led by four, 20-16.
 
The Lions closed the gap to 20-19 by winning three consecutive points. Albright eventually knotted the score at 22-all, and the score would be tied three more times, the last at 26-26. The Lions had set up set-point at 26-25, but Silvestro was able to make the kill, and the Mighty Macs finished the set with three straight points.
 
Immaculata controlled most of the third set. The Mighty Macs led 10-8, and scored five straight points to increase their lead to 15-8. The closest Albright came the rest of the rest was 21-17.
 
Albright had eight kills from Christa Mantz while Morgan Heath registered 25 assists. Alexa Jones led the Lions with 12 digs.
 
Immaculata heads to Cabrini on Saturday at 3 p.m.
