Immaculata Field Hockey Stumbles Against Swarthmore

IMMACULATA, Pa.-
Immaculata University's field hockey team fell to visiting Swarthmore College, 5-1, Thursday afternoon in a non-conference game at Draper Walsh Stadium.

The Garnet (5-6) scored two goals in the first half and tacked on three tallies in the second to snap Immaculata's four game-winning streak. Julia Tallarico and Sophia Agathis led Swarthmore with two goals each on the afternoon.

Kristen Yoder found the back of the cage to cut the lead 2-1 three minutes in to the second half but the Garnet would score three tallies within a five minute span to claim the 5-1 victory.

Immaculata (6-8) was outshot 9-5 by Swarthmore, and the Garnet held a 16-7 advantage in penalty corners. Katie Becker led Immaculata's attack with two shots.

Immaculata goalkeeper Natalie Slezak (4-6) recorded five saves in the loss while goalkeeper Gabriella Capone (5-6) made two stops for the Garnet.

The Mighty Macs return to CSAC play on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Cedar Crest beginning at 1 p.m.
