ROSEMONT, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 sweep of Rosemont College on Wednesday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match.
Today's win marked the Mighty Macs' first conference victory of the season as they improve to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in the CSAC. Rosemont falls to 0-8, 0-3.
Immaculata got off to the right start by picking up wins at all three doubles positions. Nick Tarlecki and Dave Harlan cruised to an 8-0 win at the top spot against Patrick McElroy and Ron Vogelei. Eric Schmidt and Demetrios Vlahos edged Ryan McElroy and Rodney Aguirre at the second position, 8-6. Mike Tyrell and Mike Pancoast finished things for the Mighty Macs with an 8-2 win at the third spot against Colin Ward and Will Hayes-Webb.
Vlahos, playing third singles, and Tyrell, at the sixth spot, both won their singles match by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Tarlecki and Pancoast also both won by identical scores of 6-1, 6-3 at the first and fifth positions, respectively.
Harlan won his match at No. 2 against Vogelei, 6-3, 6-4, and Schmidt was a 6-1, 6-4 winner at four singles opposite Aguirre.
Immaculata returns home against Keystone on Saturday for a 1 p.m. first serve.
