IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's tennis team fell to Gwynedd-Mercy College in the Colonial States Athletic Conference opener for both schools, 8-1, on Wednesday afternoon.

Immaculata falls to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the CSAC while Gwynedd-Mercy is 1-0 overall, 1-0 in the league.

Mike Tyrell claimed the Mighty Macs' point with his victory at sixth singles, 6-1, 6-1, against Tim Munsey.

The Mighty Macs had begun the match with competitive matches at all three doubles positions, but it was the Griffins that took the edge. Nick Tarlecki and Dave Harlan battled with Eric Trinkle and Jared Morgan at the top flight before falling, 8-5. Eric Schmidt and Demetrios Vlahos won four games opposite Ryan Murray and Lou Vessels, while Tyrell and Mike Pancoast fell to Chris Keown and Munsey by an 8-3 decision.

Immaculata hosts Marywood on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a CSAC contest.
