IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University's volleyball squad fell to visiting Delaware Valley College, 3-0, in a non-conference match at Alumnae Hall on Thursday evening. The Aggies took the match from the Mighty Macs by scores 25-19, 25-18 and 25-19.
Tamara Dabady and
Lindsey Silvestro each racked up a team-leading six kills while Dabady also had two blocks.
Kathleen Haefner recorded 16 assists, and Haefner and
Courtney Sahm made a team-high eight digs apiece.
Jessica Egan had three service aces to go along with four kills and five digs.
The Mighty Macs (4-14) started the match winning several of the first few points, and led 9-5 early. However, the Aggies (9-9) won four straight points to tie the set at 9-all, and continued the run with three more consecutive points to pull ahead, 12-9. Delaware Valley never trailed again during the first set.
With the second set even at 4-4, Delaware Valley made a 9-3 run to jump out to the 13-7 lead. The Mighty Macs forced four Aggie hitting errors and Dabady had both a kill and a solo block during the six-point string for Immaculata that knotted things at 13-all. However, Delaware Valley used a six-point run of its own to pull away for the 25-18 win.
The final set was much like the first two as the advantage swung from point-to-point. The teams were tied up at 8-8, when the Aggies had a four-point run. The Mighty Macs couldn't muster more than two straight points the rest of the set, and were unable to get any closer than one point.
Delaware Valley's Ashley Mikulsky had a match-high nine kills, and also tied Destinee Horning for the team-lead with 14 digs each.
Immaculata travels to Rutgers-Camden on Saturday for an 11 a.m. match.
