Field Hockey Falls In Overtime To Neumann

ASTON, Pa.
– Neumann University scored in the 82nd minute to defeat Immaculata University 3-2 in overtime in a Colonial States Athletic Conference field hockey game on Tuesday afternoon.

The Knights (3-11, 2-2 CSAC) scored 23 minutes into the game as Krystal Christensen gave Neumann a 1-0 advantage. Megan Dwyer evened the score at 1-1 with just less than two minutes to play before halftime as she scored her first collegiate goal on a Lauren Bigos assist.

The Mighty Macs (2-9, 2-2 CSAC) took a 2-1 lead as Katie Becker scored on a pass from Emily Hallett at the 56:16 mark. However, the advantage was quickly halted as Neumann's Christina Hicks knotted the score at 2-all less than two minutes later, and regulation would end with the score tied at 2-2.

Immaculata had an opportunity to seal the victory with 6:40 left in the overtime stanza as the Mighty Macs were awarded a penalty stroke, but Neumann's goalkeeper came up with the save.

Chelsa O'Donnell gave the hosts the win with 3:20 left in overtime as she scored unassisted for the Knights.

Immaculata was able to out-shoot Neumann 15-8 for the game, and the Mighty Macs had 11 penalty corners compared to the Knights' six.

Immaculata goalkeeper Britt Worthington made three saves, and Neumann keeper Lindsey Kasecamp made eight stops in the win.

Immaculata returns to action at home on Thursday hosting DeSales at 4 p.m.
