HACKETTSTOWN, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's soccer team saw its season come to a conclusion on Saturday afternoon as the visiting Mighty Macs fell to host Centenary College, 2-1.
Following a scoreless first half, the Mighty Macs broke through first for a 1-0 lead as Brendan Ackley scored on a corner kick in the 53rd minute.
However, Immaculata's lead was short-lived as Centenary evened the score at 1-1 on Andrew Pinnella's penalty kick in the 59th minute.
The Cyclones pulled ahead, 2-1, in the 74th minute as Alex Walter headed Pinnella's corner kick into the back of the net, and the Mighty Macs would unable to net the tying goal during the final 16 minutes.
Immaculata's Joshua Garcia made six saves while suffering the loss. Centenary's Jason Rogers had four stops in the winning effort.
Centenary held a 16-11 edge in shots, while the squads were even with four corners each.
Immaculata finishes the 2010 season with a 5-13-1 overall and 2-7 CSAC record. Centenary improves to 9-8-1, 6-3 CSAC and advances to the CSAC Tournament.
