Late Goal Lifts Men's Soccer To Victory Over Gwynedd-Mercy

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's Kameron Teel scored the deciding goal in the 87th minute to lift the host Mighty Macs to a 2-1 victory against Gwynedd-Mercy College in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday evening at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Immaculata picked up its first league win as it improves to 4-10-1 overall and 1-4 in the CSAC. Gwynedd-Mercy falls to 3-13, 2-4 in the league.

The Griffins turned up the offensive pressure during the final 10 minutes of the game, but the Mighty Mac backs did everything possible to thwart their attempts. Gwynedd-Mercy had a corner kick that landed in the box, and Immaculata's Brendan Ackley was able to clear the ball and find a waiting Teel with a through ball. Teel went one-on-one and beat the Griffins' goalkeeper for the goal in the 87th minute.

Gwynedd-Mercy had gotten on the board first just two minutes into the match as Matthew Meier crossed the ball through the box to Tim Munsey who booted it into the goal.

Immaculata netted the equalizer 14:52 into the contest as T.J. Jappah had a floating pass that Daniel Artgelier headed into the top of the goal.

Joshua Garcia picked up this second straight win in goal making four saves for Immaculata. Gwynedd-Mercy's John Furphy recorded seven stops in the loss.

Immaculata held a 19-11 advantage in shots and corner kicks were even at six apiece.

Immaculata travels to Keystone on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. start.
