ROSEMONT, Pa. – Immaculata picked up its first Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball win this season as it swept host Rosemont on Saturday afternoon. The Mighty Macs were straight set victors with scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-10.
Immaculata's record is now 3-13 and 1-3 in the CSAC while Rosemont slips to 2-14, 0-5.
Jessica Egan posted a team-leading eight kills, and
Tamara Dabady and
Allison Lang each added five kills apiece. Dabady also had five total blocks, including four solo, and Lang recorded five service aces.
Kathleen Haefner amassed 22 assists.
Nicole Preziuso and
Brooke Schreffler had made a team-high 11 digs.
In the opening set, after winning the first two points of the match, Rosemont conceded nine consecutive points to the Mighty Macs. From that point on, Immaculata allowed the Ravens no closer than four, as it cruised to the 25-17 win.
In the second set, Rosemont held a slim 13-11 advantage when Lang gained the serve. Lang served up five straight points for the Mighty Macs, forcing Rosemont to call timeout with Immaculata leading 16-13. Lang would serve out the rest of the second set for Immaculata, as Rosemont did not earn a side-out and Immaculata claimed the set, 25-13.
In the third set, Immaculata again controlled the temp, this time with Egan scoring up 12 straight points as the Mighty Macs cruised to the 25-10 win.
Karen Boyle led the Ravens with four kills and seven digs. Christa Bednarek had eight assists to go along with five digs.
Immaculata continues CSAC play on Tuesday when it travels to Cedar Crest at 7 p.m.
