Men's Basketball Downs Baptist Bible, 73-61

Nelson Torres scored 20 points as Immaculata University defeated visiting Baptist Bible, 73-61, at Alumnae Hall in a CSAC men's basketball game Saturday afternoon.

Immaculata improves to 10-8 overall and 8-3 in the CSAC. Baptist Bible falls to 2-14 and 0-10 in the CSAC.

Will Mascio scored 13 points for the Mighty Macs while Jeff DeSantis scored eight points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots.

Immaculata ran out to a 15-point lead by halftime on the strength of 13 points from Torres. The Mighty Macs went on a 14-4 run late in the first half. Torres sparked the run with seven points, including his lone 3-pointer of the day.

The Mighty Macs lead eventually grew to 23 in the second half (57-34) at the 12:19 mark. Robert Siter (7 points) capped that spurt with a breakaway dunk off a steal. The Defenders never got their deficit under double digits.

Immaculata shot 50.9 percent from the field (27 of 53) while holding Baptist Bible to 39 percent shooting (16 of 41), including just 26.3 percent in the first half.

Baptist Bible was led by Nathan Greve's 15 points and eight rebounds. Four defenders scored in double figures. Tommy Waszaj netted 12 points, and Seth Bernard and Christian Attlesey each posted 10 points.

Immaculata is back in action on Tuesday when the Mighty Macs host Philadelphia Biblical University at 7 p.m. at Alumnae Hall.
