Volleyball Downed By Albright, 3-0

IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata sophomore setter Kathleen Haefner registered her first double-double performance this season but it was not enough as visting Albright College swept the match from the Mighty Macs, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Alumnae Hall. The Lions (2-0) earned the sweep with set scores of 25-12, 26-24 and 25-17. The Mighty Macs record drops to 0-2 on the young season.

The Mighty Macs couldn't find their rhythm in the opening set as the Lions won 25-12.

However, trailing 6-1 in the early going of the second, Immaculata came back to tie the set at 6-all forcing Albright to call timeout. The Mighty Macs would take a 10-7 lead before the Lions came back to knot the score at 13-13.

Immaculata pushed its advantage to as much as four points, 18-14, but were unable to put the set away, allowing Albright to stay within reach, and ultimately tie the score again at 18-all.

The second set was tied three more times at 20-, 22- and 24-all before a kill from the Lions' Alexa Jones won the set for Albright, 26-24, to give the Lions the 2-0 lead in the match.

After Albright won the first point of the third stanza, Immaculata reeled off five consecutive points. The Lions would then make a 6-0 run for themselves for the 7-5 advantage, and Albright would not reliquish their hold the rest of the set to win the match in straight sets.

Nicole Preziuso totaled a team-high seven kills to go along with 11 digs and four service aces. Haefner earned the double double with 17 assists and a team-best 13 digs. Courtney Sahm also tallied five kills in the effort, and Jayme Lenosky made seven digs for the Mighty Macs.

Albright was led by Danielle Ozment's eight kills while Lauren Higgins amassed 25 assists. The Lions had both Erin Wentzel and Kelly Nicodemus with a team-best 12 digs.

The Mighty Macs next take on Ursinus Thursday evening, Sept. 10. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
