Baptist Bible Squeaks By Women's Soccer, 1-0

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa.
- Baptist Bible College was able to break through in the 75th minute and make it stand as the host Lady Defenders squeaked out a 1-0 victory against Immaculata in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, Baptist Bible stays undefeated in the CSAC at 3-0 and 7-4 overall, while Immaculata evens its mark at 4-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the league.

Both squads defense played tough during the first half, limiting the opposition's changes as Immaculata took three shots and Baptist Bible got off just two.

Heidi Howell finally broke the scoreless streak in the 75th minute when she put the Lady Defenders ahead, 1-0. Laurie Plante dribbled up the sideline with the ball, crossing it through the middle of the box, where Howell managed to put the ball past IU goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo.

It was an evenly played contest as both teams had six shots, and Baptist Bible held just a slight 6-5 edge in corner kicks,

Gaburo ended the contest with four saves in the loss, and Melanie Williams for Baptist Bible also made four stops.

Immaculata will have the weekend off as it prepares for Philadelphia Biblical on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.
