Volleyball Falls In Five Sets To PSU Berks

READING, Pa. - Penn State Berks earned a five-set victory over Immaculata in Wednesday night's non-conference volleyball match in the Beaver Community Center. The Nittany Lions won the match with set scores of 19-25, 25-9, 23-25, 25-23 and 15-13.

The two teams battled back and forth in the opening set before the Mighty Macs ran off eight straight points to take control and win the opening set, 25-19. Berks answered back in the second set allowing just nine Immaculata points, to take the second game, 25-9. The third and fourth sets were hard fought battles with Immaculata taking game three, 25-23, and Berks taking game four by the same margin. 

In the fifth and deciding game, Berks built a 6-1 lead before the Mighty Macs fought back to take an 11-10 advantage. The Nittany Lions were down 12-11 when they ran off three straight points to take a 14-12 lead, and eventually won the match, 15-13. 

Jayme Lenosky led the Mighty Macs with a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs. Nicole Preziuso tallied seven kills and 11 digs while Kathleen Haefner amassed 37 assists.

Immaculata returns to Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Saturday as it host Cedar Crest at 11 a.m. in Alumnae Hall.
