Late Goal Lifts Widener Past Immaculata Men's Soccer

CHESTER, Pa. - Widener netted the contest's only goal in the 87th minute as the host Pride defeated Immaculata's men's soccer team in a non-conference contest Saturday evening.

Widener's Justin Hovaker scored in the 87th minute to break a scoreless tie, and it proved to be the game winner for the Pride as the Mighty Macs could not score the equalizer.

Bahae Boutayeb took the Pride's initial shot with a little less than four minutes remaining in regulation, and the shot was saved by Immaculata goalkeeper Stone Gahagan. Hovaker collected the rebound off the save and deposited it in the back of the net for the goal.

Widener (2-4-1) held a 15-10 advantage in shots while Immaculata (1-2-3) had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

Devin Harrigan and Alan Lorentz led the Mighty Macs attack with three shots apiece.

Gahagan ended the contest making six saves, while his counterpart for Widener, Hamed Correa, corralled just one save.

Immaculata hosts Swarthmore Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
