Jayme Lenosky and
Nicole Preziuso each posted double-doubles but it was not enough as visiting Centenary came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat host Immaculata Thursday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball action.
Immaculata (3-10, 2-2 CSAC) won the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-14 to take an early 2-0 lead in the match. However, Centenary (7-10, 3-1 CSAC) came back and won the third set 25-21.
The Mighty Macs looked like they were going to wrap the match up in the fourth set when a kill by Preziuso set up match-point at 24-22, but the Cyclones then won three straight point to give them the edge, 25-24. Immaculata got another kill from Preziuso to tie things up at 25-all, but Centenary closed the set with consecutive kills, and won 27-25.
The Cyclones used the momentum from winning sets three and fourth into the deciding set, jumping out 10-5 before the Mighty Macs called timed out. Centenary went on to win the match by the final set score of 15-7.
Lenosky tallied her fourth double-double of the season on a season-best 20 kills and 19 digs to lead the Mighty Macs in both categories. Preziuso's double-double was just her second of the year, as she amassed a season-best 15 kills and 10 digs.
Kathleen Haefner was one dig sky of a double-double, finishing the match with 41 assists, nine digs and four kills.
Courtney Sahm added 15 digs to go along with seven kills, and
Tabitha Reilly tallied 12 digs.
Centenary also had two players record a double-double. Jelena Markovic registered 42 assists and 17 digs while Kelly Zegarowitz added 11 kills and 11 digs. Devon Paffendorf led the Cyclones with a match-high 22 kills, and Kelsey Walter paced the defense with 20 digs.
Immaculata travels to Keystone next Wednesday, Oct. 7, for a 7 p.m. match against the Giants.
