CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - Immaculata saw its two-point halftime lead slip away after Baptist Bible mounted a 17-7 run over the first 6:15 of the second half to take a 52-44 lead, and the Defenders went on for the 84-79 win over the Mighty Macs on Saturday in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action.
The Mighty Macs fall to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in conference with the loss. The Defenders improve to 5-10 overall and 3-5 in the CSAC.
The Mighty Macs closed to within two, 74-72, with 3:08 to play, but the Defenders made a 10-0 run over the next two minutes to outdistance themselves. Immaculata climbed back to within five but could not overcome the deficit before the final buzzer.
Sean Fordham and
Kyle Finklea were effective on both sides of the ball keeping Immaculata in the game. Fordham scored 24 points, tallied seven steals and pulled down six rebounds. Finklea recorded a team-best 26 points and collected four steals.
Julius Lopez also finished in double figures with 15 for the game.
Tommy Waszaj scored 26 points to lead Baptist Bible. He finished 7-for-11 from the floor, including 4 of 7 beyond the arc. Travis Wash scored 22, gathered six rebounds and had two blocks.
Baptist Bible shot almost 60 percent for the game, and shot 65.4 percent during the second half which proved to be the game's difference.
Immaculata returns home on Monday evening hosting Widener at 7 p.m.
