READING, Pa. - Immaculata's volleyball squad spoiled the home-opener for Alvernia with a 3-0 victory Saturday afternoon at the Physical Education Center. The Mighty Macs won with game sets of 25-21, 26-24, 25-21.
The Mighty Macs (1-2) were led by freshman Nicole Preziuso who tallied eight kills and added a team-high 11 digs. Junior

Lisa Bifulco each made 10 digs. Freshman Kathleen Haefner recorded 20 assists.
Alvernia's Leah Crimi led the Crusaders (0-5) with 12 assists, five digs and three blocks. Lauren Crimi led the defense with 10 digs and Alyssa Solits finished with a team-best six blocks.
Alvernia came close to pulling the score to 1-1 after the second set as the Crusaders earned a side-out to pull within three at 24-21. Gabrelle Albanesius then served three straight points to knot the score at 24-all, but Immaculata took the ball back on a side-out and went on to with the game on Preziuso's serve.
Immaculata will open the home slate up on Thursday night, Sept. 11, hosting Delaware Valley at 7 p.m. at Alumnae Hall.
