IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata men's soccer team reeled off its fourth consecutive victory by defeating Ursinus, 2-0, on Wednesday night at Draper Walsh Stadium.
The Mighty Macs improve to 4-3-2 while the Bears slip to 4-4.
Freshman Black Cain tallied a goal in the 67th minute, his third of the season, which proved to be the difference in the game. Kieran Keelan added an insurance goal for Immaculata at 88:16 as Keelan was went one-on-one with Bears' keeper Michael Alfieri before finally slip the ball into the net.
The contest was scoreless at the end of the first half, but both squads had its chances. Ursinus was awarded a penalty kick at 34:18, but John George missed as Immaculata keeper Zach Oas drove to his right for the save. The Bears held a slight 7-6 advantage in shots, while the Mighty Macs led 5-2 in corner kicks.
Oas earned his first shutout of the season making five stops on the night. Alfieri went the distance for Ursinus recording six saves.
Immaculata will have a week and a half to prepare for its first Colonial States Athletic Conference game against Baptist Bible on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
