READING, Pa. – Immaculata knocked home the equalizer in the 78th minute and settled for a 1-1 double overtime tie with Alvernia in non-conference men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
Immaculata improves to 0-2-2 and Alvernia slips to 1-3-1.
The first half was a scoreless affair even though both team generated chances. Alvernia narrowly out-shot Immaculata, 8-7, and the two team's goalkeepers combined for eight saves.
The Crusaders scored first to take the lead in the 56th minute when Morgan Davidheiser dribbled up the middle of the field on a break-away and was able to draw IU keeper Zach Oas out before depositing the ball in the right corner.
Abdullah Konneh knotted the score at the 77:28 mark for Immaculata when he drilled a shot past a diving Richard Kessler.
Oas registered 12 saves during the contest and Alvernia's Kessler finished with six stops.
Immaculata next plays under the lights on Saturday, Sept. 13, when it travels to Gettysburg for a 7 p.m. start time.
