GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - Kieran Keelan notched his 14th goal of the season with 22 seconds left in the first overtime session, lifting visiting Immaaculata to a 2-1 victory over host Gwynedd-Mercy Thursday night in a CSAC women's soccer match.
Keelan's unassisted tally for Immaculata (9-7-2, 5-2 CSAC) helped the Mighty Macs' keep pace with both Neumann and Marywood for that coveted second spot in the league standings. All three schools are currently tied with 15 points on the year. Gwynedd-Mercy (4-13-1, 3-4) dropped its fourth match in its last five outings.
Mitchell Torth gave the Macs a 1-0 lead in the 67th minute off an assist from Gio DeMartini. However, Walt Mikolajewski knotted things up for the Griffins in the 80th minute, sending the contest into extra time.
Zach Oas made four saves for Immaculata to improve to 8-5-2 on the year. His counterpart, Mike Leonard, made 12 saves for Gwynedd-Mercy.
Immaculata outshot Gwynedd-Mercy by a 25-17 margin with Keelan firing off 11 of the Macs' shots himself. The Griffins took 11 shots in the first half, but were limited to just six the rest of the way.
Immaculata is in action again on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Keystone College. It is Senior Day for the Macs.
