Immaculata University fell to Neumann College 71-65, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Thursday, February 15, in Aston, PA. It was the season finale for both squads.
The Mighty Macs fell to 15-10 overall and 10-6 in the conference, while the Knights improved to 17-8 overall and 11-5 in the PAC.
Sophomore Dominique Murray collected a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds, while senior Meg Legere recorded 21 points on 8-11 from the field. Sophomore Kasey Hicks amassed eight points, seven assists and three steals.
With the score knotted at 16-16 with 15:24 left in the first half, Immaculata used a 7-1 run to post a 23-17 lead with 9:43 remaining. However, Neumann used a 17-5 run to grab a 34-28 lead with 3:01 left in the opening stanza. They held on for a 34-33 halftime lead.
With the Mighty Macs holding a 46-45 lead with 12:39 left in the second half, the Knights used a 23-10 run to record a 68-56 lead with 2:28 remaining. Immaculata pulled to within five points, 70-65, with 0:11 left, but Neumann held on for the 71-65 victory.
Ashley Pearsall and Brittany Whetts each totaled 14 points for Neumann.
Eventhough, Immaculata fell in the season finale its season will continue. The Mighty Macs will travel to face Alvernia College in the PAC Quarterfinal round on Monday, February 19. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
